Nevada Landing Hotel and Casino
Nevada Landing hotel and casino was located at 2 Goodsprings road in the town of Jean, in Nevada, in the United States of America, until it was demolished in order to make way for better things. The hotel casino opened its doors in 1989, proving very popular thanks to its unusual architecture –that of two riverboats- and the first-rate gambling entertainment it supplied, and it continued to provide its services until the 20th of March 2007.
It had a riverboat theme for its 303 rooms, and 35 800 square feet were dedicated to the gambling entertainment it offered its guests. This land-based casino was owned by MGM Resorts International, with more than 800 different slot machines located on the premises, including video poker options; live keno; and various table games, and banquet facilities were available alongside a selection of different wedding services. The property was normally marketed along with its sister hotel, also located along the 1-15 freeway: the Gold Strike, a hotel and gambling hall.
The History of Nevada Landing
The Nevada Landing hotel and casino opened up in 1989, and was built by an affiliation that included Mike Ensign; William Richardson and David Belding. Gold Strike resorts were the first owner of the premises, but it was then bought by Circus Circus Enterprises. This company developed into the Mandalay Resort Group in 1999, and then the hotel once again changed hands, purchased by MGM Mirage in 2004.
Plans to close Nevada Landing hotel and casino were announced by MGM Resorts International in February of 2007, and this hospitality, gaming and entertainment company announced its new plans for the premises on the 18th of April of that year. Set to be a joint venture between the Cloobeck companies and the American Nevada Company, the 166 acres of land the hotel casino previously occupied were going to be used to house a master-planned community. The area was set to include low-cost housing options; commercial businesses; and shops, alongside a brand-new hotel casino, and the Gold Strike hotel and gambling hall was to remain open for business until the replacement for Nevada Landing hotel and casino was up and running.
MGM Halts New Project in Jean, Nevada
